Stuff I Wish I Had Remembered Not To Forget

The day your book goes to press is, of course, the day you realize all of the things that you meant to say but somehow managed not to say.

The main example of this with Design Patterns In Ruby is that somehow I managed to go on for 300+ pages without ever once mentioning that I was using Ruby 1.8.6 to run all of the code. Having said this, I don’t think that the advent of Ruby 1.9 will, for the purposes of the book, make much of a difference. Oh, Ruby 1.9 will have a number of language improvements (I can’t wait for the new -> lambda syntax) and best of all it will be faster. But Ruby 1.9 will still, at its heart, be the same lovely language described in the book.
